Using Veritas

Veritas is a free app for practising debating, reasoning and law, run as a student project by Isaac E Williams. By using it you agree to these terms. You must be 13 or over.

The Learn section explains the law of England and Wales in plain English for study. It is a revision aid, not legal advice, and it may contain mistakes or be out of date. For a real legal problem, speak to a solicitor or an advice service such as Citizens Advice. If you are ever arrested, ask for the free duty solicitor.

AI in Veritas

The Debate opponent, the judge's verdict, Topic of the Day marking, Learn answer marking, answers to questions in Learn and debate reviews are produced by an AI model (Claude, made by Anthropic) where switched on. AI can be wrong, one-sided or inconsistent, so treat its replies and marks as practice, not as facts or official grades. Please do not type personal information, such as your address or details about other people, into anything the AI reads.

Veritas Premium

Premium is an optional subscription, monthly or yearly, bought through the App Store or Google Play. The price is shown before you buy. It may start with a free trial: you are not charged if you cancel before the trial ends, and the subscription starts at the end of it. It renews automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before, and you can cancel at any time in your App Store or Google Play subscription settings; Premium then stays on until the end of the period you have paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies. Premium raises the daily AI allowances and adds resubmitting after feedback, debate reviews, mock exams, the Skills report and unlimited revision plans. The revision planner can be tried free for 4 weeks with one plan; after that it needs Premium. Nothing is charged for the trial. All the learning content stays free. Features and allowances may change, and if Premium is ever withdrawn, existing subscribers will be told first. Estimated grades are a rough guide, not an exam board grade.

Your account

You can use Veritas with or without an account. If you create one, use an email address you own, keep your password to yourself, and tell us if you think someone else has used your account. One account is for one person. You can delete your account at any time in Settings. We may close an account that breaks these terms, and accounts could be closed if Veritas ever shuts down, in which case you would be told first.

Waitlist offer

The first 200 people to join the waitlist on the Veritas website and confirm their email will be sent a code for one month of Veritas Premium free, by email, when the app launches. Places go in the order people confirm. One code per person and per email address; codes cannot be exchanged for money and must be redeemed by the date given in the email. After the free month, Premium only continues if you choose to subscribe. Sign-ups that look automated or duplicated may be removed.

Scores and marking

VQ, ranks, Topic of the Day marks and Debate scores are for motivation and feedback. They are not an official or exam-board assessment of your ability.

Fair use

Please use Veritas for its purpose. Do not try to break, overload or misuse it, including any daily limits on AI matches, and do not use it to write hateful, threatening or illegal content.

Content

The lessons, questions and model answers were written for Veritas. Linked sources, such as legislation, judgments and Wikipedia articles, belong to their owners and have their own terms. Please do not copy Veritas content into another app or product without permission. Veritas is an independent app. It is not made, approved or endorsed by any exam board, court or government body, and it does not use past exam papers.
